Privacy

Last updated 1 November 2026

The short version: we collect only what you type into our forms, we use it to hold your name and talk to you about JobWizard, and we never sell it. No tracking cookies, no ad pixels.

Who we are

JobWizard is a home services directory based in Perth, Western Australia. In this policy “we” and “us” means JobWizard. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.

What we collect

  • When a business claims a name: the name you choose and your email address. If we email you a six digit code, we keep a scrambled copy of it for 15 minutes to check it.
  • When you set up your page: your business name, trade, suburb, state and mobile number, and anything you add, such as your logo, brand colour, photos, about text, services, opening hours, phone number and website. Nothing from Google or your website is saved until you check it and press save.
  • If you find your business on Google during setup:we send the name you type to Google to look for matching listings, and use the one you pick to fill in your details. We keep that listing's Google place ID so we can link to it. We never copy your Google star rating or reviews.
  • If you add your website during setup:we read your public homepage to suggest your logo, colours, photos and services. If your website blocks ordinary requests, a browser service reads it for us. To show your site icon and a picture of your homepage, we send your website address to Google's icon service and WordPress.com's screenshot service.
  • When you email us, use the contact form or ask for help in your account: your name if you give it, your email address and whatever you choose to tell us, kept with our replies.
  • When you send a quote request: your first name, mobile number, suburb and the details of the job, sent to the one business you chose. We text a six digit code to confirm your mobile and keep a scrambled copy of it for a short time to check it.
  • When you look for a tradie near you:the suburb you search is remembered in your browser so distances make sense. If you tap "Use my location", your browser sends us your position once so we can find the nearest suburb; we don't store the position, only the suburb, and only in your browser. Businesses you save with the heart are kept in your browser too, never on our servers.
  • If you turn on notifications on your phone: the address your browser gives us for sending them, and which kinds you want. Turn them off any time and we delete it.
  • When something breaks:we keep a short technical record of the error, such as the page and what went wrong, so we can fix it. We don't put your details in it.
  • When you visit:our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, to run and protect the site. We use your approximate location, worked out from your IP address, to show the right state. We don't store it against you.
  • When you view a business's page:we count the visit, a tap on Show number and a tap to call, so the business can see what its page earns. To count each person once a day we keep a one-way scrambled code made from your IP address, browser and the date. It can't be turned back into your IP address, and it changes every day.

We don't use analytics, advertising cookies or tracking pixels. When you first arrive, your browser remembers which link or ad brought you here (for example a Facebook ad or a Google search), and if you reserve a name we store that with your reservation so we know which of our ads work. It stays in your browser otherwise and is never shared.

When you claim a name, your browser also keeps a private key so you can come back and edit your page without an account. It stays on that device, and clearing your browser data removes it.

Cookies

We only use cookies the site needs to work, so we don't ask you to accept them:

  • Signing in:our sign-in provider, Clerk, sets a few cookies on every page so the site knows whether you're signed in to manage your business, and keeps you signed in.
  • Paying: when you add a card or bank account for a paid plan, Stripe sets cookies on that page to help stop fraud.

Your browser also keeps three small notes on your device, not cookies: which link or ad brought you here (for 90 days), the private key to edit your page, and whether you like the menu open or closed. Clearing your browser data removes them.

Google Business Profile

This only applies if you choose to connect your Google Business Profile to your JobWizard page. Nothing happens unless you sign in with Google and pick your profile.

  • What we access:Google asks you to allow “See, edit, create and delete your Google business listings” (the business.manage permission). It's the only permission Google offers for Business Profiles. We use it to read only: the list of profiles you manage, so you can pick yours, and that profile's name, address, categories, opening hours, Google rating and review count.
  • What we don't do:we never post, reply to reviews, or change anything on Google. We don't read your email, contacts or anything outside your Business Profile.
  • Why:so your JobWizard page can stay in step with the details you keep on Google. What we read is shown only to you, labelled as coming from Google. Your Google rating is never shown as JobWizard's.
  • How we store it:your Google sign in is kept as a token, encrypted before it's saved and only ever sent to Google. We don't sell it, share it, use it for advertising or use it to train AI.
  • Disconnecting: press Disconnect Google on your My page screen. We tell Google to cancel our access and delete your token and everything we read. You can also remove JobWizard at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Releasing your name or asking us to delete your data does the same.

JobWizard's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Why we collect it

  • To hold your chosen name so nobody else can take it.
  • To find and check your ABN on the public Australian Business Register before your page goes live.
  • To contact you about setting up your page and about JobWizard launching in your area.
  • To pass a homeowner's quote request to the one business they chose, so it can get back to them.
  • To keep the site running, secure and free of spam.

We won't send you unrelated marketing. Every email we send has a way to opt out, or you can just reply and ask.

What becomes public

When you reserve a name, the coming soon page may show a short note such as “A plumbing business in Joondalup, WA just reserved their name”. It shows your trade, suburb and state only, never your business name, your chosen name or anything that contacts you.

Your claimed name is reserved privately until launch. When your page goes live it shows your business details, such as business name, trade and service area, because that is the point of a directory listing. You choose what goes on it, and we confirm with you first. Your mobile number and email address are never shown publicly unless you add them to your page yourself.

Who we share it with

We never sell or rent your details. We share them only with the services that run JobWizard for us, and only so they can do that job:

  • Vercel hosts the website. Our site runs in its Sydney region. Logos and photos you upload are stored with Vercel too.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile checks that forms are filled in by a person, not a bot. It looks at your browser, not at what you type.
  • An SMS provider texts the code that confirms a homeowner's mobile.
  • Your browser's push service (such as Apple or Google) delivers notifications you turn on.
  • Neon stores claim details in a database in Sydney.
  • Google Workspace handles email you send us.
  • Resend sends our emails to you, such as your six digit code.
  • Clerk runs signing in to your account.
  • Stripe takes payments for paid plans. We never see or store your full card or bank details.
  • Google finds your business listing when you search for it during setup, and supplies your site icon. If you connect your Google Business Profile, we read it from Google (see Google Business Profile above).
  • Browserless reads your website for us if it blocks ordinary requests.
  • WordPress.com takes the picture of your homepage shown on your page.
  • OpenFreeMap serves the map tiles on business and directory pages. Your browser asks it for map images of the area shown; we send it nothing about you. Maps show a business's base suburb (suburb locations from the Australian Bureau of Statistics), never an address.

These are international companies, so some data, such as backups, support access or email, may be handled outside Australia, including in the United States. We also share information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep claim details while your name is reserved or your page is live. If you ask us to delete them, or we close an unused claim, we delete them within 30 days, except anything we must keep by law.

Seeing, fixing or deleting your details

Signed in, go to Your data in your account. You can download everything we hold about you and your names straight away, and ask us to delete it. A person checks each deletion request: we release your names, take your contact details off our records, and keep only billing records, which tax law says we must hold for five years. Or email hello@jobwizard.com.auand we'll show you what we hold, correct it, or delete it. We reply within 30 days, usually much sooner.

Complaints

If you think we've mishandled your information, email hello@jobwizard.com.auand we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

We'll update this page when what we collect changes, for example before we add analytics. The date at the top shows the latest version.
